Aberdeen Golf Reviews
Open in 1989, Aberdeen’s courses are tucked in along the protected Waccamaw riverfront preserve, home to abundant wildlife, with wetlands and creeks contributing to water challenges on all three courses. Scenic cypress and towering pine trees grow in profusion, creating a hushed sense of timelessness.
Formally known as Buck Creek, the club was nominated by Golf Digest as “America’s Best New Course for 1990.” Aberdeen Country Club is the only Carolinas recipient of Golf Digest’s prestigious medallions for both Value and Service in 1998, and it was awarded 4 STARS in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play 2006.” In 2013, Aberdeen was a winner in the Sun News “Best of the Beach.”
The courses are named after traditional Scottish land features: the Woodlands nine (3,345 yards), the Meadows nine (3,306 yards), and the Highlands nine (3,420 yards. Play in any combination during the high season, when all three courses are kept open. Warm up on the full driving range or the large putting green, which features several holes for practice, or the chipping green, which includes a sand trap for practicing getting out of trouble when you’re out on the course.
