Consistently ranked by Golf Digest as one of the country’s top courses, Oyster Bay features two island greens, marsh-oriented holes, rolling fairways with generous landing areas and sizeable undulating greens.
Oyster Bay is a harmonious blend of the penal, heroic and strategic philosophies of golf course architecture. You will be amazed by the array of picture perfect holes, as exemplified by the spell-binding 13th. Bold tee shots and well measured approaches are required to play this Champion of North Carolina.
Many golfers return here, year after year, with a hearty appetite to enjoy the pristine beauty, links style course, and the ever-popular risk/reward signature holes. One signature hole is #13, a 330-yard par 4, featuring a lake that skirts the entire right side of the fairway. This requires an approach shot to a cunning undulating green resting against an oyster shell wall that rises out of the lake. Be prepared to bring your short game to Oyster Bay, as accuracy around the greens is crucial.
Challenging but pace of play long
This course was challenging from the blue tees
Par 70 with a 450 yard par 4 number 16 one of the tougher holes on the grande strand
Lots of water “around” not all in play but plenty of trees
Course conditions were ok tees a little shaggy fairways ok and greens were ok
There were four of us so our pace of play 5 hrs seemed like forever
